Club History

Club House

Founded in 1882 Bideford Amateur Rowing Club (BARC) has been present in the Little White Town for over 130 years and at our boathouse on the Quay since 1939.

An impressive three-storey building on the waterfront. A striking new extension was built and internal improvement scheme was completed. This gave us extra training space and improved changing facilities

Nicknamed ‘The Reds’ we have always been at the forefront of West of England rowing and have secured well over 50 local championships.

One of our earliest and most prestigious wins has been the National Daily Herald Cup in 1955.

If you would like to know more of our History then come in and pay us a visit. Our clubhouse has historic pictures of members past and present with their successes.

We have more historic records all on file so if you are tracing a family member or a friend or maybe even yourself. Please contact us for more information.
